At its meeting on October 26, the Traffic and Parking Board approved the installation of “No Right Turn on Red” at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Braddock Road, which will be installed in the next few weeks. Improvements also recently installed in the neighborhood include a Leading Pedestrian Interval (LPI) at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Braddock Road to provide pedestrians with more conflict free time to cross the street; curb extensions and new crosswalks to provide shorter and safer crossings on Monroe Avenue; and pedestrian countdown signals at Commonwealth Avenue and Monroe Avenue. The city also has posted a list of the comments regarding pedestrian safety in Rosemont and Del Ray that it has received and is reviewing at http://www.alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/localmotion/info/gettingaround/2015-10-26%20Ped%20Safety%20Comments.pdf.
